DHL Express, the world’s leading provider of expressshippingservices, announced today that it has invested more than$78million USD to renovate and expand its existing Hub facility attheMiami International Airport. The improvements furtherstrengthenthe company’s connections and service capabilities, withaddedflights to and from Europe, Asia Pacific, South America –includingChile, Mexico and cities in the U.S.
As the holiday season approaches, the investments come atanopportune time and on the heels of significant volumegrowth,specifically from international B2C and B2B e-commerce. DHLExpressexpects continued double digit shipment growth (YoY),throughoutthe Americas region during the upcoming peak holidayseason.Looking at the last two years and trends as a result ofthepandemic with the surge in online consumer purchasing, theAmericasregion countries experienced an average B2C shipment growthof 44%in 2020 (YoY), and 21% in 2021 (YTD Sept.).

The overall results are improved flexibility,reliabilityand service for our customers’ ever-growinginternational shippingneeds.”
The investment, which is part of a larger $360 million USDplan forthe region to increase volume capacity in the DHL ExpressAmericasnetwork by nearly 30% by the end of 2022, includesastate-of-the-art e for a fully automated package sortsystem. Thenew automation increased the facility’s sortingcapacity per hour byalmost double. With nearly twofold warehousespace – now 206,000 sq.ft. -- and twice the load positions forconveyable packages, thespace fully accommodates the increasedvolumes ahead of the peakseason.
